Maysa Figueira Monjardim (her single name, before she became Maysa Matarazzo) Was born on june 6, 1936. She was the first child of her parents, Alcebiades Guaraná Monjardim and Inah Figueira Monjardim. She was grandaughter of Alfeu Adolfo Monjardim de Andrade e Almeida, the first baron of Monjardim and Larinda Luísa Pinto Pereira.
Her childhood was very normal for the decade, she went to the social events with her parents, carnivals parties and studied at a catholic school until the end of her adolescence.

At seventeen she married André Matarazzo, a very rich man who belonged to a traditional family and provided a comfortable life to her, but Maysa wanted more, she usually sang at her family dinners and she was very motivated to become a professional singer.

She loved to sing at family parties.
In the fifties, she got a divorce because her husband didn't accept have a singer as wife. So she was invited to sing on a TV show, and recorded her first LP, which was a big success in Brazil. After, she moved to Rio de Janeiro and left her child with his father's family.

In the sixties, she became the best singer in Brazil, receiving the highest salary paid to a singer in the country. Lots of awards were handed to her, and she started a tour around the world. She sang in many countries, like England, Argentina, Uruguay, United States, Japan and France (She was very successful at Olympia Theater, in Paris).
In the seventies, she came back to Brazil and made a lot of shows at Canecão Theater, in Rio de Janeiro. After that, she fell into decadence and absented herself from the media.

In 1977, she was going to her house in Maricá, and had an accident on Rio-Niterói bridge. Put an end to her legacy.
